Next Generation Minister (Part-Time)

Position Summary

The Next Generation Minister provides leadership for the church’s ministry to children and youth, with a primary focus on discipleship and relational ministry among middle and high school students. The role also provides collaboration and input into the church’s broader children’s ministries. This is a part-time ministry position. While the role includes leadership responsibilities, it is not a pastoral position, and there is no expectation of regular preaching during Sunday worship services. The role reports to the Senior Pastor. 

Primary Responsibilities

Student Ministry Leadership (Primary Focus)

  • Plan and lead regular student gatherings, including the Wednesday evening youth ministry, that teach biblically grounded lessons that promote discipleship and spiritual growth.
  • Build meaningful relationships with students and encourage their active participation in church life, including Sunday services and other ministry opportunities.
  • Organize occasional events, retreats, service opportunities, and camps.
  • Evangelize kids, students, and parents.

Volunteer Leadership

  • Recruit, equip, and encourage volunteers serving in student ministry.
  • Communicate regularly with volunteers and provide leadership support.

Parent Partnership

  • Maintain communication with parents about ministry activities.
  • Encourage parents in their role as primary spiritual leaders in the home.

Collaboration with Children’s Ministries

  • Collaborate with Awana and children’s Sunday School leaders.
  • Help create smooth transitions from children’s ministry into student ministry.

Community Engagement

  • When possible, connect with local students through school events and community relationships.

Work Expectations

  • Approximately 20 hours per week.
  • Provide leadership for Wednesday evening youth ministry and be present during Sunday worship services.
  • Be available for relational meetings with students outside scheduled gatherings.
  • Perform administrative duties, with flexibility to complete some work remotely.

Compensation

  • Approximately $25,000 annually.
  • Minimum two weeks of vacation annually.
  • Ministry expense budget.

Qualifications

  • A growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Agree and teach in accordance with the church doctrinal statement (see tremontbaptist.org/doctrine).
  • Passion for discipling middle and high school students.
  • Relational, self-motivated, and able to lead volunteers.
  • Experience working with youth is preferred but not required.
  • College education/degree is preferred but not required.
